Sony’s latest console can play at 4K or reward you with 1080P at 120FPS. It can stream, play online, connect you to your friends via voice chat, and allow you to buy and download games from its UI. And despite everything it offers, it doesn’t have a comprehensive web browser. More specifically, it has a sub-par built-in web browser; you need a workaround to really navigate the web.

Does PS5 Have a Web Browser?

Sony’s latest console has a built-in browser, It can surf the web, but it has limited use. Moreover, you can only find it with specific tricks, as you won’t see it as a separate app. This is a hidden browser, unlike what the PS4 offers, and unlike the Xbox’s Edge browser. In specific, the PS5’s option is a trick you can enable in various ways. You can use this hidden app to navigate the internet and read text. It won’t work well when streaming music or video, and it won’t work when trying to play a web browser game. Even worse, the browser doesn’t have an address bar, and you can’t input the URL manually. Similarly, it doesn’t support favorites, collections, bookmarks, VPNs, or other browser features. Navigation is quite hard, and we don’t know if it’s worth it. Still, we’ll guide you through its use. So, the PS5 doesn’t have a comprehensive browser. It’s more like a hack, a hidden and fun feature to discover, and you’re not supposed to find it. Sadly, the PlayStation Store has no official or third-party browsers to download. This is your only option for PS5. Now, if you wonder what’s the point of a hidden browser, we can explain. The PS5 needs it to allow you access to the Sony PlayStation web pages for customer service, and similar features. However, it only needed a barebones browser, and that’s exactly what this is.

How to Access the PS5 Web Browser?

The day may come when Sony makes a fully-fledged browser for the PS5, one you can access through its home page. It is not this day, even though earlier devices have it. So, you have to jump some small hoops to use the hidden PS5 browser. That said, there’re various ways to reach the browser. Every method tries to reach a search engine. That’s because the PS5’s browser doesn’t have an address bar, so we’ll need to rely on the search boxes of the engine.

Initial Step: Enable Cookies and JavaScript

Funny enough, the PS5 has a Web Browser menu. To access the hidden browser, we need to find it and enable two important options. Now that you have enabled cookies and JavaScript, it’s time to access the PS5 browser.

Access the PS5 Browser by Sending a Message

The first option is to access a browser by sending a link as a message to one of your friends or a secondary account. However, this won’t work without a PSN account, as you wouldn’t be able to send messages. So, the process will be much easier if you have a subscription. Here’re the steps:  You can select the same link, on the same chat, at any time. It will always open the hidden browser.

Access the PS5 Browser via the User’s Guide

If you don’t have a PSN account, or if your console is not up to date, there’s a second method. It’s about going to the User’s Guide page and then clicking many links until you see a link that takes you outside of the PlayStation realm. In particular, we must find the Twitter link. Luckily, I have precise steps. However, the steps may differ for you, as PlayStation may update the page. If that’s the case, try other links until you find the Twitter link or another social media. And once you’re on another social media, it’ll be easier to reach the Google search engine. As I said, the steps may be different for you, but there’s always a way to reach Google if you find a social media button. The button may be within a PS Network Status page, PlayStation’s main page, Sony’s main page, or similar. And if you reach a social media button, you can always reach the Google Search Engine with the steps I shared above.

Access via Twitter

The third step is a shortened version of the method above. We’re finding the Twitter button on the PS5’s UI and then using Twitter to access Google. Alternatively, you can sign in to Twitter and then click any external link on a tweet to access that website.
